People are often afraid to offer constructive feedback or criticism to those in charge. "The major reason people don't give the boss feedback,” said Linda Hill, Harvard Business School professor and coauthor of Being the Boss: The 3 Imperatives for Becoming a Great Leader, “is they're worried that the boss will retaliate because they know that most of us have trouble accepting negative feedback."
